Investigation of forest true bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) from Shanghai area.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the species of true bugs (Heteroptera) occurring in the Shanghai area, with a view to provide a basis for their identification, monitoring and surveillance, as well as their control. Method: The investigation of Heteroptera species in various types of forest land from 96 townships or sites of nine districts and eight parks in the Shanghai area was carried out from November 2014 to August 2016. Based on the identification of specimens collected from the Shanghai area, a checklist of forest true bugs for this area was prepared. Result: Fifty-nine species in 18 families of Heteroptera were included in the checklist, including 25 species as new records for the Shanghai area. Detailed hosts and distributions of the recorded species were provided. The dorsal view images of the newly recorded species were also provided. Conclusion: Among them, Pentatomidae, Reduviidae, Tingidae, Coreidae, and Miridae were the dominant families recorded in the Shanghai area. Faunal analysis showed that the Oriental and Palaearctic regions Common species were in the majority, comprising 59.3% of the total number of recorded species. Corythucha ciliata, Stephanitis macaona, S. nashi, Erthesina fullo, Halyomorpha halys and Dolycoris baccarum were the main pest species recorded in the Shanghai area.
