Occurrence of the Indian wax scale (Coccomorpha: Coccidae: Ceroplastes ceriferus) outdoors in Hungary.

Abstract

A population of the Indian wax scale (Ceroplastes ceriferus) was detected in Budapest, Bikáspark (Hungary) in November 2016, which is a new species to the Hungarian fauna. Overwintering females were found on hybrid plane (Platanus × acerifolia), mullberry (Morus alba) and silver maple (Acer saccharinum). Potentially invasive species, wide variety of fruit crops and ornamental plants can be a hostplant.
