Abstract
During July 2014, a field survey for the presence of viroids on citrus was conducted in the Gharb region (northwestern Morocco). A total of 40 samples without symptoms of viroid infection were randomly collected from 4 citrus orchards of different cultivars, i.e. common and Sidi Aissa clementines and Valencia Late and Washington Navel sweet oranges. The presence of Hop stunt viroid (HSVd) was detected based on molecular and pathogenicity analyses. This is thought to be the first report of HSVd on citrus trees in Morocco.
