Abstract

During October 2014, necrotic spots and curled symptoms as well as mosaic, mottled and/or crinkle symptoms occurred on watermelon and melon in greenhouses in Tai'an, Shandong Province, China. The causal pathogen was identified as Melon necrotic spot virus (MNSV) based on various molecular and serological analyses. This is thought to be the first report of MNSV naturally infecting watermelon in China.
