Abstract
In 2010, a disease was observed with atypical symptoms on leaves of the cabbage hybrid Shinsei in a commercial farm located in Pilar do Sul, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The leaves had predominantly elongated lesions, necrotic with halos and often coalesced and formed irregular areas. THe causal pathogen was identified as Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris based on morphological, genetic (PCR) and pathogenicity analyses. This is thought to be the first report of X. campestris pv. campestris on cabbages in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
