Pyricularia oryzae धानको मरुवा रोग
Nepal
  • Remove crop stubbles at the time of field preparation.
  • Grow resistant varieties e.g., High hills: Chandannath-1, Chandannath-3, Lekali-3, Lekali-3, Hills: Khumal -13, River basin: Hardinath-1, Chaite-2, Radha-4, Terai: Sukkha-1, Sukkha-2, Sukkha-3, Sukkha-4, Sukkha-5, Sukkha-6 etc.
  • Use salt-sorted (sunken) seeds in 15% brine solution. Remove floating seeds. Salt-sorted seeds can be used for seeding after washing with fresh water and slight air drying. If needed to store before seeding the seeds should be washed twice with fresh water after sorting and dried properly.
  • Raise seedlings in wet bed nursery.
  • Apply recommended doses of chemical fertilizers (100:30:30 NPK kg/ha), apply nitrogen in 2 split top dress.
  • Maintain water level of 5 cm.
  • Remove weeds regularly to reduce humidity.
  • Monitor the nursery bed weekly for blast lesions.
  • Monitor the field for blast lesions on leaf, node and neck twice a week.
  • Monitor the field for water level (at least 5 cm).
  • Monitor the surrounding fields also where susceptible varieties or hybrids are grown (e.g. Taichung-176, Chinan-242 and DY-69).
  • If the seedlings are infected at seed bed do not use infected seedlings as far as possible.
  • Do not leave infected seedbed as such. Destroy the infected seedlings by burying or burning.
  • Treat seed with tricyclazole 75% WP @ 1g/kg seed or carbendazim 50% WP @ 2g/kg seed. Seed treatment should be done at least 3 days before seeding. If the seedlings are infected at seed bed with moderate symptoms spary kasugamycin 3% SL @ 1 ml/litre or tricyclazole 75% WP @ 1 g/litre at least 3 days before transplanting. Spray kasugamycin 3% SL @1.5 ml/litre or tricyclazole 75% WP @1 g/liter at 15 days interval at before heading and after heading (depending on disease severity).
  • Use personal protection equipment (PPE) while using chemical pesticides. Tricyclazole falls under WHO classification-II. Kasugamycin and Tricyclazole have 30 days of waiting period.
