  • Use resistant varieties such as Ruiru11 and BM 139
  • Respect recommended spacing (2-2.5 m)
  • Phytosanitation: Strip all berries at the end of the season; Proper and timely pruning (June-July); Weeding
  • Ensure proper soil management (proper and timely mulching and fertilization)
  • Use of agro-forestry trees as shade (i.e. Grevilea spp.) Note: Regulate shade because too much shade results in high incidence of CBD when weather conditions are favourable to CBD
  • Regular field visits and thorough observation of occurrence of affected (small dark sunken spots) immature and green berries (4 to 16 weeks after flowering)
  • Tank mixture of Cupric hydroxide and Chlorothalonil500Sc at half rates
  • Benomyl
  • WHO Class U (Unlikely to present acute hazard); Respect application instructions and recommended rates as per on the container label; Proper handling (storage, disposal of waste and used container); Apply a maximum of once per year
  • Copper Oxychloride (70 gr/15 litres of water) on 40-45 coffee trees or Cupric hydroxide (e.g. Kocide 101)
  • WHO Class II (Moderately hazardous); Respect application instructions as per on the container label; Proper handling(storage, disposal of waste and used container)
  • Chlorothalonil 500Sc
  • WHO Class U (Unlikely to present acute hazard); Respect application instructions and recommended rates as per on the container label; Proper handling(storage, disposal of waste and used container)
